01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Located in the heart of London’s Paddington area, La Costa Cafe offers an inviting Mediterranean fusion experience that effortlessly blends comforting classics with vibrant flavors. This cozy cafe at 44 Craven Rd is a hidden gem for anyone seeking hearty breakfasts, artisanal pizzas, and satisfying sandwiches, all served within a warm, newly renovated space that immediately feels like a second home.

Start your day with their thoughtfully curated breakfast menu. Imagine a bowl of creamy porridge sweetened with honey and paired with fresh seasonal fruit, a comforting way to awaken your senses. Their homemade granola served with yogurt and fresh fruit strikes a perfect balance between wholesome and indulgent, while the Full English Breakfast packs a flavorful punch with two sausages, crispy bacon, eggs cooked just right, mushrooms, beans, and toast — a classic that never fails.

When hunger strikes later in the day, La Costa Cafe’s selection of 12" pizzas beckons with tempting Mediterranean flair. The Margherita, crowned with fresh mozzarella, sweet tomato, and aromatic basil, is a timeless favorite. For those craving a vegetable-rich delight, the Contadina pizza’s combination of aubergine, courgette, mushroom, and olives bursts with earthy goodness. Meat lovers will appreciate the Salami pizza, fiery with Italian salami and a kick of chili, or the indulgent Pizza Imperiale, featuring Parma ham, olives, shaved parmesan, and peppery rocket—a decadent layering of flavors that dance on the palate.

The cafe’s sandwiches, though simple like the sausage butter toast, complement the menu perfectly, offering quick, comforting bites for those on the go.

What truly distinguishes La Costa Cafe is not just the quality of the food, but the whole dining experience. Guests consistently praise the friendly, attentive service and a welcoming ambiance enhanced by recent renovations. The atmosphere strikes a harmonious balance—effortlessly casual yet polished, making it ideal for family meals, casual gatherings with friends, or a comforting solo treat.

Customers such as Rajesh Ramasamy commend the tender, succulent chicken shish kebab paired with perfectly grilled tomato, fresh green salad, and mushroom rice, capturing the essence of Mediterranean comfort food. Tom Erik Repstad highlights the excellent service and positively upbeat staff who made his dining experience memorable with dishes like chicken wings and lamb shank accompanied by sweet potato sides. Other guests appreciate how the cafe caters thoughtfully to diverse dietary needs—whether gluten-free or picky eaters—with dishes like the flavorful grilled meats and aubergine preparations winning hearts and taste buds alike.

Whether you’re craving a leisurely breakfast, a slice of pizza made with care, or a genuine Mediterranean dining experience wrapped in warmth and attentive hospitality, La Costa Cafe stands out as a flavorful sanctuary just steps from Paddington Station. Every visit leaves you feeling nourished, welcomed, and eager to return for another taste of their deliciously crafted menu.

We were 7 people, with two children. A couple no gluten and a couple picky eaters. The aubergine dishes were lovely, the grilled meats very tasty and moist, and we were all well accommodated.

Overall, the food was good and it was fairly affordable in a normal cafe setting. The English breakfast was great. The normal was definitely enough. Sadly no drip/filter coffee, but we had Americanos and tea and they were both good. I was surprised by increased prices from what was on the past reviews, but it was still reasonably priced.

This place is a find! There are so many cafes in the area but it can be hard to find a good quality veggie breakfast. This was the exception! It has really great options, all produced with care and of great quality. The service and staff were really lovely as well - special shout out to MC Sina for the Sunday morning dance mix which set me up day!
